Job Summary

The Manager of Behavioral Services is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Behavioral Services department, and managing the therapeutic needs of the students being served in the residential-school with strategic leadership, vision, and clear direction. The Manager of Behavioral Services will ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, licensure, and best practice while maintaining a high quality of service. 


Oversight of Behavioral Services Department and Operations

  • Direct the development, operation, supervision and improvement of the residential school ABA services and staff.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for comprehensive and collaborative behavioral services in the residential school
  • Actively facilitates collaborative relationships between behavioral services and other departments, families, and other stakeholders
  • Continuous quality improvement of behavioral services processes and efficiencies
  • Management and monitoring of the Behavioral Services department budget
  • Development of policies and procedures for Behavioral Services department and ensure staff are trained and follow them
  • Develop and implement framework for annual in-services and/or professional development to ensure School-residential employees receive the highest quality behavioral training and students receive the best practice in treatment.

Set Performance Goals and Monitor for Improvement

  • Annually define and regularly monitor to improve productivity of Behavioral Services department
  • Annually define and regularly track performance goals for Behavioral Services department
  • Annually define and regularly monitor quality of care and services goals
  • Participate in internal and external audits (when required) and development and implementation of corrective actions plan
  • Collaborate in the oversight of IEPs to ensure compliance and consistency

Staff Management

  • Establish measurable performance expectations (i.e., productivity, quality of care, timely completion of students’ medical records, etc.), provide supervision, coaching, counseling, evaluation and disciplining Behavioral Services department staff
  • Serve as an exemplary model by meeting performance expectations above
  • Support/arrange to provide training needs of his/her staff as necessary
  • Maintain communications about Heartspring’s missions and department goals, objectives, changes, expectations to his/her department staff
  • Develop and implement behavior analytic programs to improve staff performance and retention by collaborating with identified supervisors, and provide organizational behavior training to supervisors to implement procedures with their staff.

Planning and Risk Management

  • Institute and manage professional education, in-service training, and orientation of Behavioral Services staff
  • Participate in and provide clinical perspective to strategic planning
  • Participate in the budget planning and recommendations pertinent to behavioral activities including plans and projections for staff support and equipment as appropriate
  • Analyze emergency safety intervention data a minimum of quarterly and assist teams with program improvements for students with repeated restraints or seclusion. 
  • Any other support duties may be assigned by the Principal

Requirements:

Educational, Training, and Licensure Requirements

  • Master’s degree in behavior analysis, education, or psychology required
  • Current BCBA certification in good standing with the BACB
  • Must maintain current CPR and NCI certification (provided at Heartspring)
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities

  • Demonstrated skills in staff management, supervision, teaching and coaching skills, and organizational development
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication and meeting facilitation skills
  • Experience working with targeted population and knowledge of related issues
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and function as a team member
  • Ability to work with people of diverse cultural, educational, socio-economic, and linguistic backgrounds
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
